Thought for the week

The clock is ticking; time is moving rapidly, and by the time the coming week comes to a close, all preparations for Pesach will have been completed. There are not many moments more beautiful and precious than sitting with the family around a table laden with delicious Pesach food, with the candlesticks and silverware gleaming and glistening. It is truly an occasion to be savoured. And then all eyes turn to the youngest child, or individual, who asks the time-honoured Four Questions of 'Ma Nishtana'.

At precisely that moment, we connect to our past. As we answer the 'questions' by continuing to read from the Haggadah about what the story of Pesach is all about, at that point we are carrying out the obligation of relating the miracle of the Exodus to our family. It is a vital story, as it tells us why G-d took us out in the first place, in order to establish us as His nation, with the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.

So as we 'get busy' with our last minute physical arrangements, spare some time to prepare for the narration of the Pesach story itself. This year, as well as having a festive and enjoyable time, make the experience more meaningful and real.

Remember, Pesach is a generation thing, when one generation passes on the torch to the next. Ensure that the link to the future remains as strong as ever.

  • The lift is ONLY for the use of disabled people and the elderly
  • The maximum capacity is two people at a time
  • When in automatic mode the lift must be allowed to operate without assistance - the door will open and close very slowly and must not be pushed or pulled as this will damage the mechanism.
